Saturday, August 18, 2007 - 10:00pm Congress Approves More Spying on Americans As if the Bush administration wasn't corrupt enough, now Congress is giving them a run for their money. These brain-dead members of Congress gave Bush surveillance powers earlier this month that goes well beyond warrantless wiretapping. Now the government will be able to conduct physical searches on American citizens without cause and comb through private business records. Don't worry about the 4th Amendment, it no longer applies.
The sad part is that Democrats didn't even realize they were broadening the White House's power. They were in such a hurry to pass legislation, they forgot to actually read the legislation. The politicians only discovered weeks later that they enhanced Bush's spying powers.
The bill is written in such a way as to be purposely vague. That way, this administration and future ones can get away with a lot more. They have effectively eliminated the power of the FISA court as well. The Bushies have gone around the FISA court in the past and now they can do it 'legally'.
These new and broad powers of our government only serve to limit the civil rights and liberties of Americans. The Republicans are turning this country into a dictatorship and the Democrats are too incompetent to stop them. Slowly but surely, our rights are being eliminated. Canada is looking better and better with each passing day. Political Critic - political blogs, conservatives, liberals, democrats, republicans, blog, political opinion. |
