Fred Thompson (Finally) Ready to Enter Race!

After much indecision and waffling, Law and Order star Fred Thompson will decide on Thursday to enter the race to become the next President of the United States. Unfortunately, he may be entering the competition too late. His campaign has already been struck with lackluster fundraising, staff exits, and questions about lobbying. In addition, Thompson has given a number of uninspiring speeches.

The only reason the Fred Thompson entry is compelling is because nobody else running for the GOP nomination stands out. Giuliani is a liberal who is not even liked by his kids, Romney is more of a flip-flopper than Kerry, and McCain has abandoned his straight-talk mantra for photo-ops, spins, and half-truths.

Thompson also has a trophy wife a solid 25 years younger than him. You can't blame him for marrying the beautiful Jeri Kehn, but that age discrepancy will not play well in Washington.

In the end, former Senator Fred Thompson lacks the organization to get his campaign off the ground in time for the nominating process. We are only four months away from the first primary and caucus and Thompson is as unorganized as you can get. With all the high-level staff departures, he will have great difficulty competing with the top-tier players.
