Monday, March 19, 2007 - 12:00am The Fourth Anniversary of Iraq War Four years ago, George Bush and his administration made the worst mistake in the history of the United States. They still haven't figured it out yet, but the vast majority of Americans have and so has the rest of the world. Four years after the invasion of Iraq, nothing positive has been accomplished. Thousands of American soldiers are dead, tens of thousands more have been seriously injured, the U.S. military has been significantly depleted, and the world loathes this country.
Much like the first, second, and third anniversaries of this invasion, protestors will gather around the globe to denounce the war and beg for the American troops to go home. Unfortunately, the protests themselves will do very little, as Bush will not pay attention to them and the Democrats will again refuse to hold him accountable.
I pray that we do not make it to a five year anniversary of this war. The situation on the ground has become worse each year and that will not change. Maybe Bush will figure out that he can't win or maybe the Democrats will force him to bring the troops home, but I wouldn't hold my breath on either one. Neither group has any idea what they're doing. They know how to win elections and stay in power, but that's about it.
