Monday, July 2, 2007 - 11:30pm Above the Law! As predicted, Scooter Libby has been pardoned by the monster himself, George W. Bush. Ok, so technically his sentence was "commuted" to zero, but it is essentially a pardon. Libby was convicted by a jury of his peers on felony counts of perjury, obstruction of justice, and lying to investigators. Regrettably, the President of the United States sought fit to abuse his power yet again (shocking, I know) and let the scumbag walk.
This pardon was expected by most because everyone knows that this White House is above the law. Bush, Rove, and Cheney know that the spineless Congress will do nothing to stop them, so they continue to circumvent the law over and over again. They also realize that Scooter Libby knows where the bodies are hidden, so there is no way they could let him spend any time in jail.
The fact is that Libby knows too much and if he turned on Bush and Satan, he'd be able to bury them. This pardon by Bush was as much a move to save his own arse as it was to save Scooter.
Nobody should even bother attempting to prosecute any member of the Bush administration until the term expires. If we do, Bush will simply pardon the convict and spare them the jail time. Bush and Cheney will not be impeached, so they feel free to do whatever they like until the end of their presidency. All I can say is that January 21, 2008 cannot come soon enough.
