A
leading figure in the American revival of color woodcut,
Gustave Baumann rose to prominence in New York City,
Washington, D.C., and his home of New Mexico. Though
he was born in Magdeburg, Germany in 1881, he moved to the
United States in 1891 and spent most of his life there.
The 2013 Gustave Baumann calendar is called 'A Small,
Untroubled World'. It features many different
landscape paintings in each month. The rich colors
that are used in the Gustave Baumann 2013 calendar bring the
pages to life. Many of these works are on display at
the New Mexico Museum of Art, the oldest art museum in the
state. Gustave Baumann retired to Santa Fe, New Mexico
and passed away in 1971. |
