Shown is an M.C.
Escher calendar for 2013 from our surrealism art grouping.
The Dutch graphic artist was known primarily for woodcuts,
mezzotints, & lithographs. The 2013 M.C. Escher beyond logic
calendar features many of his woodcut designs.
The
youngest son of a civil engineer, Maurits Cornelis Escher
was born in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands in 1898. More
commonly known as M.C. Escher, this mathematically inspired
graphic artist was able to create impossible constructions
of architecture. The 2013 M.C. Escher calendar is
specifically called Beyond Logic because it stretches the
imagination about what can be designed. A quick
glimpse through his life's work shows fiction-like
structures that can't possible exist. Mediterranean
landscapes are also seen in this M.C. Escher 2013 calendar.
The artist traveled a great deal in his early life and was
able to see a variety of buildings and landscapes.
