Pictured are
two Robert Mapplethorpe Flowers calendars for 2009 from our flower
art category.
Mapplethorpe was a very controversial artist from his past exhibits. The 2009
Robert Mapplethorpe calendars focus on flowers, a much less juicy
area. |
Robert Mapplethorpe 2009 Calendars
|
One of
the most controversial photographers of the late 20th
century was Robert Mapplethorpe. He was born in 1946
and died at the age of 42 in 1989. Mapplethorpe's work
involved not only the flowers you see in the 2009 calendars,
but also of the male nude. His erotic and disturbing
photos of men triggered protests by religious organizations
and conservatives in America. Like many conservatives,
they were far too worried about what everyone else was doing
with their lives. These 2009 Mapplethorpe calendars
show his incredible work taking pictures of flowers.
Robert Mapplethorpe contracted the HIV virus and died of
AIDS on March 9, 1989. The price of his art increased
when his disease was made known to the public. |
