It was
founded in 1889 when 10,000 ambitious men and women created
a tent city in just one day. Soon, Oklahoma City would
increase its population, which helped the state gain
acceptance into the United States in 1907. The 2013
Oklahoma City calendar shows a rider on a bucking horse.
Unfortunately, Oklahoma City was the site of one of the
worst terrorist acts on American soil in 1995. A
Federal Building was bombed and many people lost their
lives. However, the city pulled together and twelve
years later it has become a powerful force in middle
America. Oklahoma City's metro area is now home to
more than 1.2 million people. Due to its mild climate
and hospitality, the city continues to grow during this
millennium. |
