The
Terrapins of the Atlantic Coast Conference are led by Ralph
Friedgen, now entering his ninth year as head coach.
The Terps were coached by Harry C. "Curly" Byrd in the early
1900's and Jim Tatum in the late 40's and 50's. The
2013 Maryland Terrapins football calendar features the Gator
Bowl game against Missouri. That game was played in
1949 and the 14th ranked Terps defeated then 20th ranked
Missouri by a score of 20-7. This Maryland Terps 2013
calendar heralds that match-up, which marked the second year
in a row Maryland played in the Gator Bowl. After Jim
Tatum, the school languished until Jerry Claiborne became
the coach in 1972. More recently, the Terps won the
Humanitarian Bowl in 2008, finishing with an 8-5 record. |
