Below is a poster of Boston's Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox and home to the All Star game in 1999. This All Star Game at Fenway Park featured Ted Williams throwing out the first pitch. Because of that, the All-Star game was very memorable. |

The All-Star game at Fenway Park in 1999 was one of the most memorable of recent history. The home run hitting contest featured Mark McGwire launching home runs over the Green Monster and onto Lansdowne Street to a mob of people. The ironic part is that McGwire testified before politicians in Congress in 2005 about steroids in baseball. The All-Star game at Fenway Park itself featured the best hitter of all-time, Ted Williams, coming out to throw out the first pitch. All of the players gathered around Ted and did not want to leave to play the game. They knew that Ted Williams was one of the all-time greatest and they wished to be around him and perhaps he could impart some wisdom to them. Unfortunately, the greatest hitter that ever lived passed away a couple of years after this game, but he will not be forgotten. |
