A large flock of silhouetted, sandhill cranes flies in front of a full moon in this delicate print. A crane is a type of bird that originates from the Gruidae family of birds. Cranes fly unlike most other birds, as their necks stretch as far as possible. The sandhill crane is a specific type, as it is larger with long legs that can stand upright. Cranes are usually found in Alaska, Canada, and parts of the United States. They can be seen flying as far south as New Mexico, but also in northern areas such as Michigan. Many cranes migrate south during the winter months, which is why you may see the same flock in both places. |
