This artist lived from 1840-1926. Claude Money
was born in Paris, but his family moved to a small
town when he was just five years old. As a
young man, Claude Monet began showing his work at
local establishments and he started to get
recognized. He was 18 years old when he
completed his first painting and from there, he
moved back to Paris to learn his craft. From
1883 - 1908, Claude Monet made many trips to Italy
and to the Mediterranean. This painting above
shows the Grand Canal. One of Claude Monet's paintings of Venice was used in the film "The Thomas Crown Affair." It was entitled "San Giorgio Maggiore".
