He was born in April of 1743 and attended school at the College of William & Mary. Thomas Jefferson graduated in 1762 and later became the Governor of Virginia. He inherited the land known as Monticello and received the slaves owned by his parents. Jefferson also founded the University of Virginia. Thomas Jefferson became the first Secretary of State in 1789 and served under Presidents George Washington and John Adams. Jefferson then became the second Vice President to Adams and served from 1797 - 1801. Thomas Jefferson then became President in 1801 and served two full terms. He is the only person who was Vice President to serve two terms as President. President Jefferson died on July 4, 1826.
