The Son of Man Posters

This is one of the artist's most well known paintings and was featured in the movie "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan.  It is currently a privately owned painting.  It shows a man with a bowler hat as he stands in a suit in front of a stone wall.  The artist, Rene Magritte, has said that the painting means that everything we see is hidden by something else.  Magritte was born in 1898 in Belgium and lived until August of 1967.  He began painting as early as 1920 with a piece called "Landscape" and he worked up until the time of his death.  His last notable piece was "Good Connections" in 1967.
