success. It was considered a concept album, meaning it
had a theme throughout each song. It examined the
inhumanity of mankind and how the stress of life can drive
people to religion, insanity, money, etc. It was
recorded in London in late 1972. In the states, it is
ranked #21 for the most sales of all time. It has sold
over 15 million copies just in the United States.
Worldwide, it has sold over 35 million. Even in 2002, it
sold enough to be ranked #200 for the year, despite having
been released nearly 30 years prior. |
