A classic baseball print, this Norman Rockwell piece shows the three umpires checking for rain. The umpires are trying to determine whether or not they should call the game. The head umpire has his equipment in his hand, along with his mask as he sticks his hand out. In the background right, it appears that the managers are shaking hands with each other, as one appears hunched over and not enjoying himself. Further in the background, you can see some players waiting to see if the game will be played and you can also see the town to the left, with what appears to be warehouse buildings. The attention to detail in this picture makes Norman Rockwell such a gifted artist. |
