Nicknamed the loveable losers, the Chicago Cubs are one of the most beloved teams in all of sports. They have not won a World Series since 1908 and now that the Red Sox have won the World Series, the focus is on the Cubs to win the next one and end all curses. The Chicago Cubs play on Wrigley Field and they do have Mark Prior, Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Kerry Wood, and Nomar Garciaparra. Unfortunately, three of those guys have already spent significant time on the disabled list in 2005. The Cubs did rid themselves of steroid user Sammy Sosa, whose numbers have continued to deteriorate since they began testing. Sosa testified before Congress in 2005, but pretended to not know much English. The fans of the Chicago Cubs, for their part, are diehards. They root for everyone and come out to the park every day. Wrigley Field went decades without lights, playing all their games during the day. |
