Considered the most famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh. He was born in March of 1853 in the Netherlands. In his late 20's, he took up painting full time. Most of his work was done in a short span of just 10 years. He lived only until the age of 37. He developed a mental illness and took his own life in July of 1890. His skill and talent were not even appreciated in his lifetime. He did not achieve fame until well after his untimely death. His fame took off in 1901, when a gallery in Paris, France showed 71 of his paintings. Ninety years later, his "Portrait of Dr. Gachet" painting was purchased for $82.5 million.
