Robert
Marley was born in 1945 in Saint Ann, Jamaica. His
father was white and his mother was black, so he dealt with
racial questions throughout his upbringing. He would
tell me that he didn't have a prejudice against himself.
As a teenager, Bob Marley began making music with a local
friend. Marley recorded his first tracks in 1962 at
the young age of 17. He joined a clean-cut band called
"The Wailers" and became the lead singer. By 1964, Bob
Marley's band had a #1 single in Jamaica. In 1974, the
group went their own ways, but Marley continued with "Bob
Marley & The Wailers" with different band members. By
the late 1970's, Bob Marley had reached the top of the
reggae music
world. These Bob Marley t-shirts show that he was a
prayerful and colorful man. Bob Marley was also an exceptional soccer
player. In 1977, he was diagnosed with skin cancer on
his toe. It had been incorrectly diagnosed originally
as a wound from a soccer game. He was advised to have
his toe amputated, but he refused citing religious beliefs.
The cancer spread quickly throughout his body. As a
result, Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981 at the young age of
36. |
