One of the greatest jazz musicians who ever lived was Miles
Davis. He was born in May of 1926 in Illinois and
lived until late September of 1991. In that time,
Miles Davis recorded some of the best jazz around. In
the 1960's and 1970's, he was considered one the great
innovators. he started recording in the mid 1940's
after attending Julliard School. He was signed by
Capital Records in the late 1940's and recorded a number of
songs in 1949 and 1950. The above Miles Davis t-shirt
features "Birth of the Cool", which was the name of a LP
released by Davis in 1957. Despite his success, Miles
Davis became involved with illegal drugs and became hooked
on heroin. With the help of the people around him, he
rid himself of the addiction. Miles Davis continued to
perform up until the time of his death. Years after
his death, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. |
