The
slam dunk is a type of play in basketball where the player
goes up to the rim and smashes the ball down the net.
The shot is seen in the above Stuff-It t-shirt as you can
see the hand going in for the slam. The move is a
crowd favorite and typically gets the team excited and
motivated. It is most often seen in men's college and
pro basketball, although it was banned by the NCAA from
1967-1977 because Kareem Abdul-Jabbar could do it so easily.
The Stuff-It basketball t-shirts show that banning it was a
bad idea. In the female game, the first women to slam
dunk the ball was Georganne Wells in a 1984 NCAA game.
Since then, Candace Parker became the first to dunk in a
NCAA Tournament and Lisa Leslie the first to slam dunk in a
WNBA game. |
