The activity of swimming underwater with equipment that allows you to stay for a long time is called scuba diving. Breathing compressed air allows a diver to explore the far reaches of the ocean and get up close and personal with coral and fish. This Scuba t-shirt promotes the underwater hobby with pictures of all sorts of fish. The term SCUBA is an abbreviation for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. It referred to the equipment designed by Emile Gagnan and Jacques Cousteau, the famous French explorer and Naval officer. The t-shirts simply use the SCUBA acronym and do not spell out the full title. Jacques Cousteau lived from 1910 - 1997. Emile Gagnan is less known, but is also credited with inventing the scuba equipment.
