A city
that is often forgotten in the destruction left by Hurricane
Katrina in 2005 is the coastal city of Biloxi. A 30
foot storm came onshore and washed away entire buildings.
In many instances, the surge destroyed third floor offices
and apartments. The Biloxi t-shirts try to remember a
better time and lend support for the area. After the
hurricane, Biloxi was able to recover much faster than New
Orleans. 'I'm Famous in Biloxi, MS' is how the other
Biloxi t-shirts read. A number of riverboat casinos
washed up on shore after the Katrina hurricane, but the
gaming industry has since recovered. In the days after
the hurricane, Governor Barbour stated that 90% of the
buildings along Biloxi's coast were destroyed. |
