The
University of Illinois has a campus here in the medium sized
town of Champaign. At one point a few years ago, the
Chicago Bears football team would fly down here to play
'home' games at the college stadium. The Champaign
t-shirts feature the 217. It is the calling code of
the region and a popular way to give support for the
hometown. The other Champaign t-shirt reads 'Illinois'
in small letters at the bottom. Singer Alison Krauss
is from here as is George Will, Ludacris, Olympic medalist
Bonnie Blair, and the rock group REO Speedwagon. The
economy of Champaign is quite strong, with companies such as
Sun Microsystems, IBM, and Motorola all having operations
