The
810, Bedrock, The Vehicle City, and Buick City are all names
associated with the automobile community of Flint. The
Michigan town had a huge prescence in the automobile
industry, but that has deteriorated. The Flint
t-shirts still represent strength, however, to get through
it all and make the transition. At one point, the city
had a population of 200,000. Both Flint t-shirts are
don in bold, black letters. The flight out of Flint
has pushed the number of residents down to 118,000 at the
most recent census. Many must look for work in other
parts of the country and others prefer the warmer climate
down south in Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, and the like. |
