Second only to the commuting city of Newark, Jersey City is also a
suburb of NYC, despite being run-down in spots. The Jersey
City t-shirts imply as much by surviving.
In
Hudson County in the northern part of New Jersey is the New
York City suburb of Jersey City. With 240,000, it is
the second biggest in the state behind Newark. The
Jersey City t-shirts tell us that only the strong survive
the culturally diverse area. The close proximity to
lower Manhattan allowed for people just across the Hudson
River to witness the September 11, 2001 tragedy. The
only the strong survive Jersey City t-shirts are that much
more appropriate as the residents band together with NYC to
get through the attacks. Because of the 9/11 attacks,
many investment and financial companies moved their
operations to Jersey City. Goldman Sachs, Merrill
Lynch, and Lehman Brothers are just a few of the names that
established offices.
