Craighead County is the location of the super religious city
of Jonesboro. This Arkansas town has over seventy
churches, one of which that was funded by the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia. The 870 is on the Jonesboro t-shirts and
signifies the area code of the city. In addition to
the Islamic mosque, there are many other religious
denominations represented in the community. Famous
people do hail from here and the Jonesboro t-shirts are a
testament to that. The brilliant novelist John
Grisham, who wrote Time to Kill is from Jonesboro,
Arkansas. Also, Miss America 1990 went to high school
here. The town itself is 'dry', meaning no alcohol
consumption, but joining a members only club can circumvent
that rule. |
