The
first capital of the Confederacy and currently of the State
of Alabama is the city of Montgomery. With a populous
exceeding 200,000 and more in the greater region, it is
ranked third in the state behind Birmingham and Mobile.
You'll notice on these Montgomery t-shirts that they don't
necessarily reference the State of Alabama. The first
shirt can be used as such, but also goes to a person's name.
The city was the site of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which
was sparked by the arrest of Rosa Parks in 1955. The
vintage Montgomery t-shirts give passion to the town, as it
has long passed the stigma it had in the 1950's. Since
that dark time, much progress has been made in Montgomery.
The racial makeup of the city is virtually even and the
relationship between races is no longer as strained. |
