It is
called the city of homes and has three distinct
neighborhoods. Mount Vernon is divided up between the
south side, the north side, and downtown and is surrounded
by The Bronx, Yonkers, Pelham, and Eastchester. The
Mount Vernon t-shirts can come to mean the home of President
George Washington or the city in New York. The
downtown area was in disrepair but has since been injected
with a major restoration project. The second grouping
of Mount Vernon t-shirts specifically refer to New York and
not one of the dozen other states with the same name.
In Mount Vernon's downtown, there are plans for three
thousand new condominiums, a large hotel, and hundreds of
thousands of square feet for retail and commercial
