The
City of Brotherly Love in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
is that of Philadelphia. The city has been more
dangerous than lovely of late, as it has now become the
murder capital of the United States. Hopefully, these
Philadelphia t-shirts and sweatshirts will help restore the
pride that once existed there. There were 406 murders
in 2006, which gave Philadelphia the highest homicide rate
of all major cities in America. In 2007, the trend is
getting even worse. As of March 15, there had been 81
murders in the city. The raw number of killings this
year are even greater than that of much larger cities such
as Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles. The 215 in
these Philadelphia t-shirts has fallen on hard times, but it
is up to the public to bring it back to what it once was.
Perhaps as a result of the crime, the population in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has plummeted in the last fifty
years. What was a city with 2.1 million is now down to
1.46 million. Over fifty thousand people have left in
the last five years alone. |
