County is the site of the New Mexico city of Roswell.
The city ranks fifth in the state in population, but is
notorious for being the location of the 1947 UFO incident in
which an unidentified flying object crashed just outside the
city. The Roswell t-shirts capitalize on that even
with these alien designs. The local Roswell Army Air
Field recovered the flying saucer on a ranch, but the
military later claimed it was a top secret research balloon.
These Roswell t-shirts clearly do not believe that story as
they believe the U.S. government is lying to them. The
U.S. was conducting hundreds, if not thousands of military
tests in the Roswell and New Mexico region during that
decade, so it was a reasonable explanation at the time.
However, the cover up has led people to believe it was
indeed a UFO that crashed. |
