Only
twenty four miles to the northwest of St. Louis is the city
and county of St. Charles. This Missouri town is off
Interstate 70 along the Missouri River. These St.
Charles t-shirts are a perfect gift for any one of the
60,000 residents in this suburb. This was the first
capital in the State of Missouri and is one of the oldest
cities. It was founded by Louis Blanchette in 1765 and
was later a major stopping point for Lewis and Clark on
their westward expedition. Almost two hundred and
fifty years later, the community has grown remarkably and
these St. Charles t-shirts are seen more frequently.
After Missouri became a state in the union in 1821,
government officials decided to switch the capital to
Jefferson City, where it still is today. |
