In
Mercer County in the central section of New Jersey is the
capital city of Trenton. With 87,000 people, the
cities of Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, Edison,
Woodbridge Township, Toms River Township, and Hamilton
Township are all larger. Despite that fact, these
Trenton t-shirts are all the rage. Perhaps it is
because the New York Yankees field a AA team here or that
the name sparks a real New Jersey locale to it.
Northern New Jersey is labeled as a suburb to New York City
and southern New Jersey is a suburb of Philadelphia, but in
central Jersey where Trenton lies, it is not a suburb to
anyone. It is one of the few cities in the state that
stands alone with no ties to any other community. If
you happen to travel between Washington and Boston on the
Amtrak line, you will likely pass through Trenton and
observe the Lower Free Bridge. |
