North
of Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton is the burgeoning Florida
city of West Palm Beach. As people migrate north from
Dade and Broward Counties, the recipient has been this city
with an incorporated population of 107,000 and a total
population of 365,000. The West Palm Beach t-shirts
focus on the natives and the beach scene. Much of the
western portion of the city is considered 'unincorporated'
and the further inland you travel, the more rural it
becomes. Some roads are purposely unpaved in the
unincorporated areas, not wanting excessive traffic flowing
through. You won't see the dirt roads on these West
Palm Beach t-shirts though. Most of the development is
to the eastern side of West Palm Beach. Up until the
1960's, there was almost zero development to the west of the
city because of swamplands. However, improved drainage
helped alleviate that problem and much of South Florida is
developing inland. |
